Who we are

This website is operated by Patuna Partnership (“Patuna”, “we”, “us”), a family-owned sheep and beef farm at 236 Haurangi Road, Ruakokoputuna, Martinborough, offering the Patuna Chasm walk. This policy explains how we collect, use and look after your personal information, and how this website uses cookies. We comply with the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

We keep it to what we actually need:

• Booking information – when you book a walk through our online booking system (Checkfront), you provide your name, contact details, the number and names of people in your group, and payment details. Payment is processed securely by Checkfront and its payment provider – we never see or store your card details.
• Enquiries – if you email or phone us, we hold your contact details and the content of your enquiry so we can respond.
• Website information – general analytics about how the site is used (pages visited, device type, approximate location). This is aggregated and doesn’t identify you personally.

Booking for other people

If you book for a group, you’ll usually give us the names of the other walkers. By doing so, you confirm you have their OK to share those details with us. We treat information collected this way with the same care as information you give us about yourself, and we use it only to run the walk you’ve booked.

How we use your information

• To manage your booking, take payment, and get you on the walk
• To contact you about your booking – including if we have to cancel for weather or river levels
• To respond to your enquiries
• To understand how the website is used and improve it
• To meet our legal and tax obligations

We don’t sell your information to anyone, and we don’t send marketing without your consent.

Who we share it with

Only the services that make the walk and this website work:

• Checkfront – our booking platform, which processes bookings and payments on our behalf. Checkfront is based in Canada, so booking information is stored securely overseas under Checkfront’s own privacy safeguards.
• Google – for website analytics and the embedded map on our Home page.
• Our website provider – VF Digital, who host and maintain this website and access data only as needed to do so.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device that help websites work. Here’s what this site uses:

You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Blocking essential cookies may stop the booking system working.

Storage and security

Your information is held on secure, reputable platforms in New Zealand and overseas (as described above), protected by encrypted connections (SSL) and access controls. No online system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.

How long we keep it

Booking and payment records are kept for up to seven years to meet our tax and legal obligations. Enquiries are kept only as long as needed to help you. Analytics data is retained per Google’s standard settings.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us at any time for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Just email hello@patunafarm.co.nz. If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. Significant changes will be flagged on the website.
